How to Care for your Crystals
Cleanse and Recharge
Crystals are conscious beings that need to be taken good care of if you want them to promote their greatest benefits and energy to your well-being. When crystals are used for healing, they either absorb or channel the negative energies further away from you. However, if a stone absorbs too much negative energy, it can do more harm than good. That’s why it’s extremely important to cleanse so that the negativity you want to release should be as further away from you as possible.
By understanding and balancing the elements within us, we achieve abundance and live our most harmonious life.
There are many ways to cleanse and recharge your crystals. But we have summed up the easiest way for you to take care of your crystals.
Physical Cleanse
Wipe the crystals with a dry cloth to clean up the dust. You may add a slight dash of distilled water to wipe out the dirty area on crystals.
Energy Cleanse
1. Smudging
It is recommended to smudge your crystal every day to clear up any energy it absorbs from the outside.
Palo Santo and Sage are sacred plants with various healing and protection properties. It can soothe our throat, gum infections, and various respiratory conditions.
Make sure to get a fire-safe plate to do the smudging. Open a nearby window for a constant flow of fresh air. Otherwise, you can also make the elixir outside.
We recommend burning palo santo/sage stick or incense and having the smoke goes around the crystal items in a clockwise direction. Grab the crystal you want to cleanse and run it through the flame left behind by the burning palo santo/sage. The smoke should consume the stone and take away its negativity so it’s best to smudge between 30 seconds and 1 minute.
2. Sunlight or Moonlight
There are multiple sayings that propose that sun exposure makes us happier, alleviates stress, and helps with conditions like anxiety and depression. The same goes for crystals and stones, although moonlight yields great results too.
Cleansing the stone using natural light from the moon and the sun often revolves around certain solar or moon cycles which speed up and make cleaning more effective. In this particular case, you can yield great results even in regular sunlight or moonlight. It’s best to set the stone before nightfall so it both lights cleanses and touches the stones.
-
Sunlight - make sure not to put it when the sunlight is the strongest as the natural glow and color may be washed away. Longer exposure to direct sun can damage the stone’s surface. Either place it in the afternoon, early morning or evening and then get it after the sun rises. Additionally, make sure to use it on tumbled gemstones, those without prominent color. Vibrant gemstones like amethyst and ruby may become damaged, and their natural glow may be washed away.
-
Moonlight - we recommend putting them under the moonlight overnight to absorb the moon's energy and vibration to vibe up the crystals. (you can put it near the window area)
You can cleanse the crystals for up to 12 hours, but not less than 6 hours.
3. Sound and Vibrations
-
The frequencies from sound will help to harmonize the crystals and uplift their energy.
-
Using Sounds and Vibrations is a much faster way to cleanse if you own a lot of crystals. This method is applicable to any stone.
-
Tools to use: singing bowls, bells, tuning forks, or anything vibration-inducing instruments or tools.
-
Expose the stones to the pitch sound for any time between 5 to 10 minutes.
4. Other Stones
The vibration of the larger stone will radiate negativity away from the smaller stone, just as it’d wash away negativity from you.
-
Place on top of larger stones such as selenite, amethyst, and clear quartz
-
Be careful so that they don’t end up scratching and damaging each other.
-
For each and every of your stone or crystal, this method can be used for up to 24 hours.
